John, You are right and it leaves democratic socialists wondering if the ALP is beyond reform. No wonder ordinary workers have left the party in droves.
I’ve been fantasising about this: as a century ago in the UK, a reshuffle of the two parties occurs. The old Conservative party, the LNP, makes itself irrelevant in the face of a new conservative party, the ALP, while the Greens has become the new progressive party. The two party system of Anglophone countries lives on.

Surely the Greens make themselves more electable - hasn't happened yet, and more centrist / community independents take seats off Labor, Lib, and Nat.
